The Constitution Law

The current law for Havnar Arbeiðarafelag was approved at the annual meeting on December 29, 1957, and reapproved at an additional annual meeting on March 6, 1958. It is still valid with the latest amendments made at the annual general meeting on March 29, 2014.

The purpose of Havnar Arbeiðarafelag  is:

  1. To unite all workers to work for better living conditions together.
  2. To promote and develop solidarity and unity within the union.
  3. To work towards each worker, considering it their duty towards themselves and fellow members to be part of the union.
  4. To stimulate interest among members through informative and educational debates and lectures on financial and social issues affecting society.

Any worker or specialist worker over 14 who has not worked against the interests of workers or been expelled from a workers' organisation can become a member. Representatives and members of the committee should not have acted against the union.
